Location and heritage
Finca La Curva is located in the municipality of Santa Cruz de Mora, a region of the Venezuelan Andes belonging to the state of Merida and known as “La Tierra del Café” – The Land of Coffee. Rising up to 1,700 meters above sea level, La Curva is divided into several plantation areas defined by different levels of altitude. From 1,000 to 1,200 meters above sea level is the so-called Castillo zone, which means castle in Spanish, where a large number of Castilla coffee trees are grown. A few levels higher, from 1,500 to 1,700 meters, is the yellow catuai variety.
Production and expertise
Luis Andrades, a producer from father to son, has been at the helm of the farm for several decades and can count on the precious help of his oldest daughter, Kelly. Luis is also the founder of the Asociacion de Productores de Café de Los Andes, a group of producers in the region who provide the necessary logistics through their beneficio. This processing center allows for the transformation of coffee cherries through pulping, sorting, and drying.
